The Micronutrient Global Leadership (MGL) Project was a multi-year cooperative agreement (1998-2005) between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the ILSI Research Foundation. The ILSI Human Nutrition Institute provided the staff support for the project which was devoted to improving delivery of vitamin A and iron to at-risk populations in developing countries.
MGL funded targeted operational research to improve delivery of these micronutrients through supplementation, food fortification, and dietary diversification. MGL also organized expert panel consultations to resolve scientific issues that arise in such intervention activities and published documents to disseminate the lessons learned by these panels.
